What time are you available for fittings?
Fittings will be scheduled during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. We are happy to respond your emails and form submissions within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.
Will I need to ride?
Yes, you and your horse must be ready to ride. Your horse must be sound and should be saddled before your fitting begins. You will need to have your current bit, bridle, and a helmet. Both horse and rider must be on time and ready for their fitting, late or no-shows will be charged a full fitting fee without the option to reschedule.
What else do I need to make sure my horse and I are ready?
Your horse must be sound and have been seen by an equine dentist within the last 6 months. If you are trying a specific bit, for instance a jumping bit, you will need to have jumps set up to test its effectiveness.
Do you fit western headstalls?
Yes, but for time and safety concerns all western headstalls must have buckles. We will not look at tack with ties or screws, including reins.
Who should be at my appointment?
All decision makers should be present during your fitting. This includes a parent, trainer, spouse, etc.
Am I required to buy a new bit or bridle?
While you are not required to purchase any of the products we try at your fitting, we have many products in stock and ready for you to begin using right away.
What should I expect when I start using my new bit or bridle?
A new bit or bridle will take a 2-3 week adjustment period for both horse and rider. Your horse will feel more comfortable and should respond to contact more willingly if ridden and trained properly. If after this time period you are experiencing issues that you believe are due to an incorrect fit (not a connection evasion or training issue) Comfort Fit Equine will repeat a fitting either virtually or in person for an additional fee.
If I have to order a special piece or bit how long will it take?
We continually keep a large showcase on hand, but some speciality bits or out of stock items could take 3-4 weeks to ship. Additionally, a few pieces could take several months to arrive if they are out of stock.
What if there's bad weather during my scheduled fitting?
If we are under a heat advisory or a snowstorm occurs and it is unsafe to ride your initial deposit will be transferred to your new scheduled fitting date. If a new date cannot be scheduled your deposit will be returned.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, credit card, and Venmo
